Dear Reader,

When Jesus said to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth, he had in mind places like Irian Jaya.

Totally cut off from civilization...a seething, hot, humid region overrun with all kinds of horrendous diseases. People suffer from deadly malaria, typhoid--even leprosy.

Add to that the extreme oppression of rampant witchcraft that terrorizes the people into submission. Top it off with warfare and even cannibalism. Truly this is a place of spiritual darkness.

In this hostile environment, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has discovered 14 unknown tribes in the dense jungles of Irian Jaya, Indonesia's easternmost province, that live like Stone Age people.

These remote tribes have never had contact with the outside world. One isolated group sent the following message through a chain of four translators: "We wish for peace. Our area is full of hardness. Our life is horrible. We need help. We want help. We don't want to wait long."

Worst of all, they and millions of other unreached peoples have never heard the name of Jesus Christ or His life-changing message of salvation. But we're determined to change that.

Since 1945 MAF has been helping to accomplish Christ's Great Commission to reach all peoples by flying missionaries and national evangelists into the most remote areas of the world--reaching people others can't.

Today, more than 500 mission organizations worldwide depend on MAF and our fleet of almost 70 airplanes. Last year alone we flew almost 99,000 people and over eight million pounds of cargo.

We also fly medical evacuation flights and deliver rush shipments of food and supplies to victims of war and national disasters. And we provide remote e-mail and radio communications services for missionaries. No one else is doing what we're doing.

But we don't stop there. Wherever remote and isolated people live around the world, we want to help them.

Without our help...

• Needless suffering and dying will continue among isolated people groups.*Missionaries will *have to delay or even cancel their plans for outreach.
• Whole tribes of people will never hear the Gospel and have a chance to accept Christ.
