About
God’s Sabbath & Holy Day Commandments
1.
The Old Testament Law of God commanded the Sabbath and Holy Days of
Leviticus 23 to be observed as “holy convocations,” a “commanded
assembly.”
2.
Under the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Hebrews 8:6-13) God writes
on our hearts and in our minds the Law of God, and since the Sabbath
and Holy Days are a part of God’s Law, God also writes into our
hearts and minds a deep desire to assemble and observe God’s
Sabbath and Holy Days.
3.
If you have the Holy Spirit in you, you will feel a deep desire to be
where believers assemble to worship God on his Sabbath and Holy Days.
The Sabbath and Holy Days commandments are no longer a legalistic
Old Covenant commanded set of assemblies, but their observance has
become a New Covenant desire of the heart and mind (Jeremiah 31:31;
Hebrews 8:6-13).
Based
on what I have observed from my research into Jesus’ observance of
the Sabbath in the four Gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke and
John) and the Book of Acts for the early New Testament Churches of
God (see
https://unityinchrist.com/wwcofg/Has%20the%20Sabbath%20Been%20Abrogated.htm
) coupling that to the Bible’s only definition of the New Covenant
(which is written in the blood of Jesus Christ), the Sabbath and Holy
Day commanded assemblies found in the Law of God (Exodus 20:8-11 and
Leviticus 23:1-44) have been transformed into a strong Holy Spirit
induced desire within the believer to observe and attend God’s
Sabbath and Holy Days wherever they may find believers assembling to
worship God on those days. I remember back to the early days of my
calling, that I had a strong
desire
to obey God’s Ten Commandments and attend for worship services on
God’s Sabbath and Holy Days. It wasn’t a legalistic desire, but
a
strong desire of my heart and mind.
That folks, is a New Covenant desire, not of the letter, but of the
heart, inspired by God’s Holy Spirit. I can even remember where I
was walking when some of these desires started coming into my mind
and heart, during the early part of my calling.
